Los Angeles County, California was established on February 18, 1850 and named for the city of Los Angeles, which is named for Nuestra Señora, Reina de los Angeles, whose feast day coincided with the town’s founding! Los Angeles means “the angels” in Spanish! Its county seat is Los Angeles, and its fair is held in Pomona! You might recognize the Hollywood sign, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, Universal Studios, Beverly Hills, Bradbury Building, Chinatown, and many, many, many film and television studios and settings located in this county!
