Montgomery County, Maryland was established in 1776 and named for Major General Richard Montgomery, who is most famous for leading the Continental Army in a disastrous attack on Quebec City during the Revolutionary War! Its county seat is Rockville, and its fair is held in Gaithersburg! You might recognize portions of the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, Clara Barton National Historic Site, and Glen Echo Park, which are located in this county!
