Pima County, Arizona was established on November 9, 1864 and named for the Akimel O’odham phrase pi mac, which means “I don’t know” and was used a lot in interactions with the Spanish! Its county seat is Tucson, and its fair is also held in Tucson! You might recognize Saguaro National Park, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Mission San Xavier del Bac, Colossal Cave Mountain Park, and the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show, which are located in this county!
