Saguache County, Colorado was established on December 29, 1866 and named after the Ute term for “water at the blue earth!” Its county seat is Saguache, and its fair is held in Monte Vista, part of the shared San Luis Valley Fair! You might recognize the spiritual centers of Crestone and the northern part of Great Sand Dunes National Park, which are located in this county!
