Tallapoosa County, Alabama was established on December 18, 1832 and named for a Creek/Muscogee term Talwa Posa, meaning “Grandmother Town!” Its county seat is Dadeville, and it doesn’t host a county fair! You might recognize Horseshoe Bend National Military Park, Wind Creek State Park, DeSoto Caverns, and the Lake Martin Dam, which are located in this county!
