Yolo County, California was established on February 18, 1850 and was named for either the Native American word Yo-loy, which means “a place abounding in rushes,” or Chief Yodo! It is in no way related to the modern hashtag, #yolo! Its county seat is Woodland, and its fair is also held in Woodland! You might recognize the Woodland Opera House and the Ziggurat, which are located in this county!
