Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Angeles!

Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles
Landmark #144 Los Angeles County Visited: April 10, 2011 Plaque?  YES! 🙂
What is it? The Catholic church of the Pueblo de Los Angeles!
What makes it historical? THE GUIDE SAYS: La Iglesia de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles (the Church of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels) was dedicated on December 8, 1822 during California’s Mexican era. Originally known as La Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles, the church was the only Catholic church for the pueblo. Today it primarily serves the Hispanic population of Los Angeles.

OTHER TIDBITS: People were drinking from a spigot marked “Holy Water” right next to another marked “Recycled Water.” I didn’t dare drink!

How can I Help the Helpers? HERE’S HOW:

  • Volunteer with Las Angelitas del Pueblo!
  • Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
