What is it? A plaque high on a wall!
What makes it historical? THE GUIDE SAYS: The Sacramento Valley Railroad, running from Sacramento to Folsom, was begun at this site on February 12, 1855. The passenger terminal was located here, the turntable and freight depot were at Third and Front Streets. Completion of the railroad was celebrated at Folsom on February 22, 1856.

OTHER TIDBITS: This was California’s second oldest railroad, too! The only one older was the Arcata and Mad River Railroad!
