Methodist Episcopal Church!

Methodist Episcopal Church
Landmark #767 El Dorado County Visited: April 5, 2015 Plaque?  YES! 🙂
What is it? The oldest church building in El Dorado County!
What makes it historical? THE GUIDE SAYS: Erected in 1851, this is the oldest church building in El Dorado County. Its original site was on the corner of Cedar Ravine and Main Street, Placerville.

OTHER TIDBITS: The church was also built from hand-sawed Ponderosa pine boards, and the bell was purchased from the sailing ship, Staffordshire, which came all the way around Cape Horn!

How can I Help the Helpers? HERE’S HOW:

  • Become a member of the El Dorado County Historical Society!
  • Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
