OTHER TIDBITS: This bridge was part of a 7-mile railroad that ran from the limestone quarry in El Dorado County to the city of Auburn, where it connected to the Southern Pacific line! Construction started in 1910, and with a million dollar budget, the railroad went into operation March 23, 1912! Today, it still spans the American River, picturesque as a painting!
