What is it? |
Coronado National Memorial commemorates the entrance of Francisco Coronado into the modern United States in search of the fabled city of Cibola! |
What makes it beautiful? |
Though there’s no direct evidence that Señor Coronado passed through this specific area on his quest, the scenery is very like what he must have experienced: high mountains, caves, and rolling plains. The hike to the top of Joe’s Canyon is steep and tiring, but from the top, you can look down the line of two countries and see how the mountains and grasslands of the United States and Mexico blend together despite a simple fence! |
