Site of the First Wendy’s!

Site of First Wendy's Restaurant
Landmark #104-25 Franklin County Visited: September 01, 2019 Plaque?  YES! 🙂
What is it? A plaque marking the site of the first Wendy’s Restaurant!
What makes it historical? THE SIGN SAYS: Dave Thomas realized his boyhood dream when he opened his first hamburger restaurant on this site on November 15, 1969. Thomas changed the image of fast food by serving fresh, not frozen, hamburgers, hot off the grill with a choice of toppings in a clean comfortable setting. From this location, Wendy’s became one of the largest restaurant chains in the world. It all began with Thomas’s guiding principle “Quality is Our Recipe” and his dream of serving a “hot ‘n juicy” hamburger.

OTHER TIDBITS: Dave Thomas is also known for appearing in more commercials for his business than any other company founder in television history, over 800 between 1989 and 2002! Adopted at six weeks of age, he became a lifelong advocate for adoption, and his Foundation became the only North American nonprofit charity dedicated solely to this cause!

How can I Help the Helpers? HERE’S HOW:

  • Volunteer with the Ohio History Connection!
  • Donate to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption!
