Kinsey Road Mound!

Kinsey Road Mound
What is it? The Kinsey Road Mound is a burial structure from the Adena culture!
What makes it historical? Like the Hopewell culture, the Adena are shrouded in mystery! We don’t really even know their real names, since they left no written records behind. The name “Adena” came from Ohio governor, Thomas Worthington, who found a mound on his estate, called Adena, and gave it that name. The people themselves spanned Kentucky, southern Indiana and Pennsylvania, and much of Ohio and West Virginia, hunting and gathering between 2800 BC and 1 AD! Most of what we know about them comes from mounds like these, where they buried their dead.
How can I Help the Helpers? HERE’S HOW:

  • Volunteer with Greene County Parks & Trails!
  • Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
