Richfield Carnegie Library!

Richfield Carnegie Library
What is it? It’s Richfield’s public library!
What makes it historical? In the early 1910s, philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie, gave the state of Utah a grant to build 23 libraries! This one in Richfield, built in the Craftsman style, is one of only 13 that are still standing and architecturally intact! The Carnegie library program, one of the largest in the nation, set a very unique condition before a city would receive their donation: the city had to budget 10% of the original donation amount each year to maintain the library. For Richfield, that meant $1,000 per year for the building that cost $10,000 to build!
How can I Help the Helpers? HERE’S HOW:

  • Volunteer at Richfield Public Library!
  • Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
