Guernsey Dairy Milk Depot!

Guernsey Dairy Milk Depot

What Is the Guernsey Dairy Milk Depot?

Part of the Tourtellotte & Hummel Architecture group, today, this is the Silvercreek Realty building!

What Makes It Historical?

The firm of Tourtellette & Hummel designed over 39 buldings in Boise between 1906 through 1942. Incorporating tons of different architectural styles to build an eclectic city, they designed the Guernsey Dairy Milk Depot in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, at least on the outside. Inside was more industrial, since this was basically a milk processing plant for the Guernsey Dairy, but because there was also a salesroom, and the architects wanted to be conscientious of their surroundings, they made the outside a little showier! They contracted L.S. Mallory to construct this building in 1937 to the tune of $40,000 (over $822,000 now)!
