Congaree National Park!

Congaree National Park

What Is Congaree National Park?

This park preserves America’s largest—and one of its last—intact, old growth bottomland hardwood forest!

What Makes It Beautiful?

This is a place of deep, dark mysteries! You can stroll down the boardwalk and into the muck, but you’ll be left with just glimpses of what could lie beyond in the tupelo groves. Snakes? Gators? Turtles? Hogs? This is one of the most diverse ecosystems in the USA, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve with some of the tallest trees of their species in the country, from oaks to loblolly pines! So put on your bug spray, and keep your eyes peeled for neat mushrooms and knobby-kneed cypress trees! Watch out for wild hogs, while you’re at it!
