What makes it wonderful? |
Early settlers gave this area the tongue-in-cheek name of Mount Misery because the soil was more or less barren, and the terrain was so rough that wagon wheels tended to break while folks pulled through. Some time in the mid 1700s, an asylum was built in this area, with all the terrors that 18th-century mental health could offer!
One night, a patient started a fire in her room, which ended up burning down the asylum, killing a large number of patients, and unleashing their ghosts to wander the road for eternity! Some folks have reported seeing the lady herself, while others see a policeman missing the back of his head, and a disheveled hitchiker carrying a basket of heads! Some even say an evil looking dog with fiery eyes prowls these parts! |
