Bandelier National Monument!

Bandelier National Monument

What Is Bandelier National Monument?

Bandelier National Monument, named for Swiss-American anthropologist, Adolph Bandelier, preserves vast stretches of canyon and the Ancestral Puebloan ruins they contain!

What Makes It Beautiful?

This park is home to remote, mountainous wilderness and canyons of ghosts! Once the home of Ancestral Puebloan people, today, the monument features traces of their cliff dwellings, the anchors and foundations that let the visitor build whole towns with their imagination! With fortified ladders, you can climb inside these cliff homes and enjoy the framed canyon views, largely unchanged in hundreds of years! Take a tranquil streamside stroll, or head off into the backcountry where history, beauty, and wonder intersect!

How Can I #HelpTheHelpers?

  • Pay the entrance fee to help maintain trails, signs, structures, and other visitor services!
  • Volunteer at Bandelier National Monument!
  • Donate to Bandelier National Monument!
  • Be a responsible visitor! Remember the old adages: Pack out what you pack in! Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints!
