What Are the Parowan Gap Petroglyphs?
The Parowan Gap Petroglyphs are a gallery of chiseled figures left behind by multiple cultures!
What Makes It Historical?
There’s a lot left to learn about this incredible gallery of petroglyphs! Right now, the leading theory is that they were left behind by the Fremont Culture, but this site is important, even sacred, to multiple modern tribes! The Paiute and Hopi passed through the Gap regularly when it was lush, not a desert.
The Paiute describe these images as depicting the Great Migration, when they passed from a place of great extremes to this new land, led by a great leader, who died getting his people to safety! To the Hopi, this is where their ancestors made a pact with the Earth Guardian, Maasaw, to be caretakers of the planet!
How Can I #HelpTheHelpers?
