Oklahoma became the 46th state of the Union on November 16, 1907! It’s named from the Choctaw words okla and humma, meaning “red people,” but you can also call it The Sooner State! Its capital and largest city is Oklahoma City! Oklahoma’s state motto is Labor omnia vincit, which means “Work conquers all!” This state is famous for its waving wheat that sure smells sweet, the Wichita and Glass Mountains, Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, National Route 66 Museum, Oklahoma City National Memorial, and the end of the Trail of Tears!
