Jordan’s Amman Governorate was established in 1946 and named for the city of Amman, which is also its capital! You might recognize the Citadel and Temple of Hercules, the ruins of Umm ar-Rasas, and the Raghadan Flagpole (largest in the world), which are located in this governorate!
