Navarra became a province of Spain on August 16, 1841 and an autonomous community on August 16, 1982! It’s named for either its multicolored mountains (Basque “nabar”) or the people of its valleys (Basque “naba” + “herri”)! Its capital and largest city is Pamplona (Iruña)! This province/autonomous community is famous for the Bull Runs of San Fermín, Roncesvalles, the Wine Fountain of Bodegas Irache, and rugged parts of El Camino de Santiago de Compostela!
