Tulare County, California was established in 1852 and was named by Pedro Fages for the tule marshes he found in the county! Tule actually comes from the Nahuatl word tullin, which means rushes or cattails! Its county seat is Visalia, and its fair is held in Tulare! You might recognize Sequoia National Park, Giant Sequoia National Monument, Lake Kaweah, Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park, and part of Kings Canyon National Park which are located in this county!
