Spanish Landing!

Spanish Landing
Landmark #891 San Diego County Visited: April 21, 2013 Plaque?  YES! 🙂
What is it? A plaque in a park!
What makes it historical? THE GUIDE SAYS: Near this point, sea and land parties of the PortoláSerra expedition met in 1769. Two ships, the San Antonio and San Carlos, anchored on May 4-5 and the scurvy-weakened survivors of the voyage established a camp, where on May 14 and July 1 they greeted the parties coming overland from Baja California. Together, they began the Spanish occupation of Alta California.

OTHER TIDBITS: That pretty well sums it up!
