Vashon Heritage Museum

What Is the Vashon Heritage Museum?

The Vashon Heritage Museum is a showcase of history from Vashon and Maury Islands!

What Makes It Wonderful?

The Vashon Heritage Museum dates back to 1907 when it was a Lutheran church for Norwegian immigrants! Today, it archives pieces of Vashon Island’s history and culture from the sx̌ʷəbabš Coast Salish to the logging industries to its current natural state with photos, mineral samples, and a native plant garden! When I was there, they also had a special exhibit on the LGBT residents of Vashon Island!

How Can I #HelpTheHelpers?

  • Pay the entrance fee to help maintain trails, signs, structures, and other visitor services!
  • Volunteer at the Vashon Heritage Museum!
  • Become a member of the Vashon Heritage Museum!
  • Be a responsible visitor! Please respect the signs and pathways, and treat all structures and artifacts with respect. They’ve endured a lot to survive into the present. They’ll need our help to make it into the future!
