What Is Biscayne National Park?
This national park protects the fragile coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrass fish nurseries of Biscayne Bay!
What Makes It Beautiful?
It may not be flashy as some of the more mountainous national parks, but what stands out about Biscayne National Park is just below the surface! Within eyesight of metropolitan Miami, this is still an aquatic sanctuary for marine life from coral to manatees, both of which are in peril! In fact, even with national park protections, the reefs off of south Florida were badly bleached during the summer of 2023, making this a park to enjoy while you still have the chance! The water is crystal blue thanks to the hard work of marine sponges, so if you do get the chance to explore this park’s famous reefs (outside the keys), you’ll have quite the view. And of course, if you prefer to stay topside, by kayak or paddleboard, keep an eye out for pelicans, manatees, or the super endangered wood stork!

When Should I Visit the Park?
Visit the park whenever the mood strikes you, though the visitor center is open daily from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM! I recommend booking a tour through the Biscayne National Park Institute to make the most of your park experience!
