King County, Washington was established on December 22, 1852 and named first for William Rufus King (vice president when the county was established) then changed to be named for Martin Luther King, Jr. who visited in 1961! Its county seat is Seattle, and its fair is held in Enumclaw! You might recognize the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, the first Starbucks, and part of Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, which are located in this county!
