What Are the Parowan Gap Dinosaur Tracks?
The Parowan Gap dinosaur tracks are preserved in huge boulders of solid mudstone!
What Makes It Historical?
These footprints were made by hadrosaurs 65-75 million years ago when Utah was part of a swampy island landmass called Larimidia! It’s unsure what kind of duck-billed dinosaur made them, though this region has given us fossils of Eolambia, Iguanodon, Parasaurolophus, Gryposaurus, and Rhinorex! They were preserved the tracks were made in mud, the mud filled with pebbles and sand, dried and hardened, and were later brought to the surface by erosion! Tracks like these are super rare, not just because of how difficult they are to create but also because bad people have been steadily defacing them since they were rediscovered. Don’t be like those people!
