North Dakota became the 39th state of the Union on November 2, 1889! It’s named after the Dakota tribe, but you can also call it The Peace Garden State! Its capital is Bismarck, and its largest city is Fargo! North Dakota’s state motto is “Liberty and Union, Now and Forever, One and Inseparable!” This state is famous for Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, Enchanted Highway, and its many, many great dinosaur fossils!
